The “Cultural Tourism into Universities” (CTiU) initiative, alongside the launch of a cultural tourism innovation event, were inaugurated by Fuyang District’s tourism authority on June 13 at Zhejiang University City College (ZUCC). The initiative also saw the launch of five new “Youth-centered” travel routes for the first time. Concurrently, the authority issued a call for “Cultural Tourism Innovators,” inviting submissions of innovative business proposals.

The call-up primarily targets students from ZUCC, Zhejiang Media College, Zhejiang Shuren University, Zhejiang College of Tourism, Zhejiang Economy & Technology College, Hangzhou Vocational Academy of Science & Technology, and Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages, as well as people from other sectors. The initiative seeks to gather forward-thinking, practical business plans that can contribute to the development of Fuyang’s cultural tourism.

“Micro-tourism”, having been a buzzword here over the past few years, refers to a collection of new business models that prioritize culture, social engagement, and network celebrity appeal. The call for “Cultural Tourism Innovators” goes also in sync with the opening of 18 distinctive spaces across Fuyang’s 11 towns and subdistricts for aspiring startup makers. Additionally, the first-launched “Fuyang Cultural Tourism Youth Partnership Program” allows them to find jobs at seven designated local tourism firms. The tourism authority is also collaboration with Hangzhou Cultural Tourism Talent Association, Hangzhou Leisure Development Promotion Association, Hangzhou Bank, and Fuchun Shanju Group to unveil a startup camp that offers free venues, mentors, and connections for the incubation of content projects.

The five new travel routes covering the whole district are respectively named “A City That Never Sleeps,” “Hidden Players,” “Fantasia in Jiang’nan,” “A Kaleidoscope at N30° Latitude,” and “A 48-hour Journey of Wonders.” Furthermore, more discounts are being offered to students, now on summer vacation, for admission to eight most sought-after places in Fuyang, including the Peach Gardens, the Safari, and Longmen Ancient Town.
