Nestled by the West Lake, Changqiao Creek Eco Park is a span of wetlands that features a restored water ecology. This secluded retreat, famed for its photogenic beauty, is now awash with the vibrant blooms of 15,000 irises, transforming the riverside into a flowing “rainbow silk.”

“The Louisiana irises here boast a rich palette - red, pink, yellow, white, blue, and purple,” said a park staff member. In 2023, 34 new iris varieties were introduced, including the endemic “Hangzhi No. 1,” the “Spicy” draped in fiery ombré hues, and the pure, ethereal “White Lover.” The additions enhance the aquatic flora’s chromatic depth, which, mingling with Japanese irises and Iris ensata Thunb. that will bloom in succession, creates a rainbow-like spectacle. “This floral feast will last until mid-to-late May.”

With the May 1st holiday over, Changqiao Creek Eco Park is a perfect spot for locals to spend weekends and unwind in its serene and natural environment.
