On March 5, Dianping unveils its Must-Visit List 2025, which for the first time features two sub-lists: the city’s must-visit places and the seasonal must-go areas. This expansion aims to provide travelers with an even more comprehensive guide to top attractions throughout China.

Zhejiang Province demonstrated its strong tourism appeal, ranking third nationwide with 71 attractions across 11 cities featured on the Urban Must-Visit List. Hangzhou stands out with 15 listed attractions, tying for third place with Suzhou, Luoyang, and Hong Kong among individual cities. Almost half of Hangzhou’s recognized attractions highlight the city’s stunning natural beauty. The West Lake Scenic Area, the Qiandao Lake, and the Qiantang River have remained on the list for six consecutive years.

Introducing a new dimension to the 2025 Must-Visit List, the Seasonal List will be launched quarterly to highlight locations offering exceptional, highly popular, season-specific experiences. The inaugural spring edition features 32 locations, categorized into four themes: flower viewing, spring bird watching, rural scenery, and outdoor hiking. Notably, more than half of these locations are not found on the Urban List. Hangzhou’s Longjing Village appears under rural scenery, while Jiuxi Shibajian, also known as “Nine Creeks and Eighteen Gullies,” is recognized under outdoor hiking.

“When visitors arrive in a new city, they often look to explore as many of the city’s classic attractions as possible and quickly immerse themselves in the local culture,” stated a spokesperson for Dianping’s Must-Visit List. To meet this demand, Dianping has expanded the coverage of the Urban List to include 120 cities, and raised the selection criteria to ensure that featured attractions both authentically reflect each city’s character and provide engaging, unique experiences, avoiding generic tourist fare.
