Come explore the fascinating world of local flora and fauna at the Lingfeng Tanmei Scenic Spot! From March 3 to 14, a captivating exhibition in celebration of World Wildlife Day 2025 will be jointly staged by Hangzhou Botanical Garden (Hangzhou West Lake Landscape Science Research Institute) and Hangzhou Zoo (including the Hangzhou Children’s Park and the Wild Animal Research Institute).
The exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the wonders of endangered plant species. Highlights include the Zhejiang hop-hornbeam (Ostrya rehderiana), one of the world’s rarest trees, the stunning dove-tree (Davidia involucrata), and the ancient dawn redwood (Metasequoia), a “living fossil” that once thrived alongside dinosaurs. The exhibition also features protected plant species that are rarely seen outside specific environments.
In addition to showcasing these rare plant species, the exhibition also shares inspiring stories of local animal conservation efforts. Learn about the rescue and rehabilitation of local owl populations and the successful relocation and conservation of the South China sika deer (Cervus nippon kopschi) and black muntjac (Muntiacus crinifrons). Informative panels throughout the exhibition provides deeper insights into the diverse animal and plant life forms inhabiting the West Lake Scenic Area.
