China National Silk Museum Is to Temporarily Closed for Upgrading

China National Silk Museum is a state-sponsored Grade A museum in China, and is the world’s largest one dedicated to silk history. The museum will soon undergo an upgrading project, meanwhile with its galleries to temporarily close in stages, according to a notice. 


The silk museum was opened on February 26, 1992. Its first project for venue expansion and upgrading took place in 2015. For this one, the Textile Conservation Gallery will be the first to close, followed by the Brocade Corridor. The Silk Road Gallery will be closed on February 21. For the Sericulture Gallery and Weaving Gallery, the closing date will be March 16. The re-opening schedule is not specified.

  

Primarily involving an upgrading of the museum’s collections and associated facilities, the project this time will definitely provide a brand-new experience for visitors and grant them clearer lens seeing through the silk heritage.
