Hangzhou International Airport’s summer season was a resounding success. Between July 1 and August 31, the airport recorded a 16.5% jump in passenger traffic and a 6% increase in flight served compared to the previous year. In total, the airport handled a record-breaking 9.12 million passengers and 59,000 flights.
The airport shattered its own daily passenger traffic records three times during the summer, with peak numbers reaching 154,600 on July 31, 156,800 on August 5, and 159,500 on August 12. It also set new monthly passenger traffic records in July and August in July and August, reaching 4.49 million and 4.63 million, respectively.
This summer, Hangzhou International Airport made significant strides toward its goal of becoming a world-class aviation hub. Passenger and cargo traffic surged, route capacity expanded, services were reliable, and the airport experienced robust growth in both supply and demand.
For domestic routes, the airport added more flights to popular tourist destinations like Zhangjiajie and Hulunbuir. It also increased the frequency of flights on high-quality trunk routes to major cities like Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Urumqi.
To handle the influx of passengers during the summer season, Hangzhou International Airport implemented several measures to ensure a smooth travel experience. For example, the security team posted signs directing passengers with upcoming flights to proceed directly to the designated area and check in promptly. The airport also added more check-in counters and security checkpoints, offering extra guidance to passengers. A spokesperson for the airport said these initiatives not only eased passenger congestion but also demonstrated the airport’s commitment to providing exceptional service.
