The ongoing Sakura season has put Baita (White Pagoda) Park in a spotlight - the swaying boughs, as the gentle breeze arrives, are giving pink or white petal showers to the approaching travelers.

The park boasts 220 Yoshino Saruka trees and 100 plus other Sakura types that feature either an early or late flowering period, said the park authority.

In previous years, park managers would install stone walls and railings around the Sakura trees to prevent ground-cover plants from being over-trampled. This year, however, they have made a foot trail lined with camphor woods right through the Sakura groves, replacing the barriers and bringing visitors closer to the scenes. The path also carries an underlying message of “transforming waste into treasure.” - For park maintenance, fallen camphor trees due to natural cycles will be skillfully processed into planks about 10cm thick and used to pave the parkways. It is eco-friendly.

The peach blossoms and Malus halliana are also in their prime time, and don’t miss the fair in the park. Come and get your favorites here!
