Jiangjia Township in southwest of the Qiandao Lake in Chun’an County became a buzzword as the first Qiandao Lake Life Festival was held. It is a move Jiangjia Township has taken to boost cultural tourism in winter times. 

Traditional customs celebrating the Spring Festival are presented at the festival. Visitors can have an immersive experience of land boat dance, bamboo horse dance, straw dragon dance and Muju Opera. Also can be seen are intangible cultural heritage in Chun’an, including Spring Festival couplets calligraphy, noodles drying and sesame candy making. Flavors of local dishes float throughout the entire busy East Street of Wenyuan Lion City.

The two-month event will last until the Lantern Festival. Under the theme of celebrating the New Year in so-called Lion City, the festival features a music festival, homecoming of the former Lion City residents and the Spring Festival shopping season. Other activities include Jiangjia pork feast, Longchuan Bay fish harvesting, mountain climbing at the Huma Adventure Park and Chinese classics lecture at Yingshan Academy. To attract more participants, the organizer is handing out vouchers valuing 300,000 yuan online, which can be used in hotels, homestays and scenic spots in southwest Chun’an, like Jiangjia Township. Starting from December 30, 2023, the Wenyuan Lion City scenic spot in Qiandao Lake opens to the public for free. 

As a state-level forest health preservation base, a provincial-level tourist town and sports town, Jiangjia Township boasts many quality tourist products including the Wenyuan Lion City, Huma Adventure Park, International Fishing Base, and Lake Cycling Greenway. It hosted many sport events, such as hiking, orienteering championship and cycling. Signature program of Hunan Satellite TV’s fishing channel has been filmed in the place. The destination is providing a wider range of tourist products and increasingly better tourist services. 

Jiangjia Township has planned to launch more immersive tourist events with local characteristics particularly targeting young people. It aims to provide tourists more tourism, entertainment and consumption choices, and explore cultural tourism products and services with Jiangjia Township characteristics and a path to prosperity for places in southwest of Chun’an County.
