On 22 July, the waters of West Lake’s western scenic area were alive with sightseeing boats ferrying visitors to and fro. In the sweltering summer heat, many travelers opted for the classic “secret waterways” route—climbing aboard rowboats or sculling punts to glide through one arched bridge hole after another. Drifting slowly along the tranquil channels of Maojiabu, Wugui Pool, and Yuhu Bay, they left behind the bustle of the main lake and escaped the harsh midday sun, savoring a cool, refreshing “Emerald City Adventure” on the water.
