The first phase of Hangzhou’s Grand Canal Future Art & Tech Centre—the Refinery Park Cultural Plaza—has just wrapped up construction and is set to be handed over any day now. At the heart of the plaza, brightly colored storage-tank-shaped structures and pipeline-style bridge walkways stand as striking reminders of the site’s industrial past, while at the same time channeling a contemporary vibe that’s equal parts artistic and tech-forward.
