For the past few days, a large civilian drone has been making repeated trips over a clearing near Changwen Road in Tuankou, Lin’an District—ferrying freshly cut bamboo from the surrounding hillsides down to the ground. The drone, it turns out, is the centerpiece of a local young man’s new business venture. After completing the necessary training and certification, he’s been using it to offer low‑altitude services, from crop protection to transport. The current bamboo‑hauling operation has been running for nearly a month, with each flight carrying up to around 75 kilograms of bamboo and moving roughly 10 metric tons per day. The result? A massive boost in efficiency, plus a welcome reduction in both the risks and costs of manual labor.
