Starting September 20, Hangzhou International Airport (HIA) is launching “Mid-Autumn Reunion”-themed limited-edition boarding pass—a palm-sized travel keepsake as a piece of the city’s Mid-Autumn memory you can take back with.

The limited-edition passes come in two versions. The first, “Osmanthus Orange,” sports a warm hue that mirrors the city’s osmanthus bloom. On the right-hand stub, the “Lotus Valley”—a T4 terminal landmark—sits beside a full moon, as if a slice of Hangzhou’s autumn had been folded into the boarding gate. The second, “Dusk Mountain Purple,” carries a deeper tone, evoking the West Lake hills at dusk. On its stub, the old T1 terminal, the tarmac, and the full moon overlap—like a traveler looking back at home before leaving.

Two versions: one for reunion, one for the homesick traveler.　  　

The “Osmanthus Orange” edition is capped at 600,000 and available at staffed check-in counters in Terminals T3 and T4. Xiamen Airlines’ Hangzhou branch and Loong Air, both based at the airport, have also rolled out their own tweaked versions on the same base color, each with its own subtle differences. The “Dusk Mountain Purple” edition is limited to 200,000 and printed only at self-service check-in machines in T3 and T4.

“I was just rushing for a flight, and somehow ended up with a Mid-Autumn card in my hand," said Zhou, a frequent flyer between Hangzhou and Chengdu, beaming as she held her boarding pass.

HIA has previously released “West Lake’s Top Ten Scenes” boarding pass and a 2026 Year of the Horse limited edition—all warmly received by travelers and even sparking a “boarding pass collecting craze.” Staff of the airport said: “The Mid-Autumn reunion-themed boarding pass is an example of our commitment to carrying forward fine traditional Chinese culture. They enrich the travel experience and pass on the warmth and blessings of ‘reunion and all things going well.’”
