Scrap metal, old tires, discarded circuit boards, rusty railings, worn-out boardwalk planks—materials that would normally be tossed out have been reborn as benches, picture frames, Rubik’s cubes, and art installations at the Green Motion Eco-Cycle Park in Xihu District.

Located at the intersection of Cuibai Road and Duxing Lane in Cuiyuan Subdistrict, the park was originally an idle plot of about 20,000 square meters. Its renovation that took place this February made it a 28,000-square-metre theme park—the first of its kind in Zhejiang—centering about “zero-waste culture and circular economy,” and an extracurricular education center for zero-waste city initiatives.
