These days, the city park along Tiesha River is turning into a pastel dreamscape, with hydrangeas popping off in full force—layer upon layer of soft, dreamy blooms that are practically begging for a selfie. Locals have been flocking to the spot to soak up the early summer romance.
Also known as “eight-immortal flowers,” hydrangeas are a crowd favorite for their rich colors, lush round clusters, and low-maintenance vibe. In recent years, they’ve been planted in big numbers across popular Hangzhou spots like Wushan’s Chenghuang Pavilion, Quyuan Fenghe, Children’s Park, and Linping Park. This year alone, the East City Park has put in over 100 varieties—more than 15,000 plants in total. And if that wasn’t enough, the park has just been named one of the satellite venues for the upcoming “Purple Whispers: Hydrangea Romance – 2026 Hangzhou First Hydrangea Expo.”
