These days, the 50 mu (approx. 8.24 acres) of lotus pond in Gongyu Village, Xinwan Street, Qiantang District, are a sea of lush green dotted with pink lotus blossoms. It’s become a fresh new countryside attraction where locals love to take a stroll and visitors flock to snap photos. Gongyu Village is one of Hangzhou’s first batch of “common prosperity villages” and a municipal-level “green village.” Here, the village has turned what used to be unused farmland into a rural complex. This lotus pond doesn’t just keep improving the local ecology—it also produces farm goods like lotus roots, lotus seeds, and lotus pods, giving villagers a new source of income. At the same time, it’s breathed life into the village’s cultural and tourism resources, drawing people in and making it a hallmark for integrating agriculture, culture, and tourism.
