“Soldiers love the people, the people love the soldiers, and the military and civilians are one big family...” Recently, accompanied by a warm and uplifting voice announcement, Hangzhou Metro added another distinctive sight to the city—the military-support themed train “Dual Support” and station hall voice announcements officially went into service, letting the contemporary spirit of “revering service members and caring for veterans” extend along the tracks and reach every corner of Hangzhou.

It is understood that this military-support themed campaign was created by the Hangzhou Municipal Veterans Affairs Bureau in partnership with Zheshang Bank, and takes two forms: station hall voice sponsorship and train body naming rights. It will run until 3 August 2029. Over the next three years, it will accompany residents and visitors on their journeys, letting passengers feel both solemnity and warmth, and weaving the positive energy of military support into a network that reaches across the entire city.

It’s learned that five metro stations in Hangzhou currently feature dedicated military-support themed voice announcements in their station halls, including Wulinmen Station and Xianingqiao Station on Line 2, Civic Center Station and Qianjiang Road Station on Line 4, and Hangzhou East Railway Station (East Square Station) on Line 6. At the same time, five themed trains named “Dual Support” have also been put into service, running on Lines 3, 6, 7, and 19, covering multiple core districts across the city’s east, west, south, and north.

Hangzhou has been honored with the title of “National Model City for Military-Civilian Support” nine times. The launch of this themed train and voice announcements is a vivid step in Hangzhou’s efforts to carry forward its revolutionary heritage and deepen society-wide support for the military. A representative from the Municipal Veterans Affairs Bureau said that the metro is a window into urban civilisation and a public space connecting millions of households, and the hope is that this “quiet, nurturing” approach will weave military support into the fabric of everyday life for residents.
