A new tea-centered exhibition, “Tea and Women: A Steeped Legacy,” is open at China National Tea Museum (Shuangfeng). Admission is free, and the exhibition will run until January 4, 2026.

This is the first exhibition to systematically explore the connection between women and tea culture in China from ancient times through the Republic of China (ROC) period. Featuring 113 exhibits, including three Class II and 28 Class III pieces, it highlights the unique role women played in the evolution of tea traditions. The display is organized into three thematic sections: “Cultivation, Production, and Sale” depicts how Chinese women pick, process, and sell tea in the past with a few 19th-century export paintings on rice-paper; “Tea Drinking Customs” illustrates diverse tea consumption practices among different groups of women - from the working class to the noble class; and “Exhibition and Communication” tells women’s contributions to the widespread tea culture with poems, utensils, and posters.

The exhibition is held in the tenth hall. Please notice the opening hours: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM, Wednesday to Monday (closed on Tuesdays, except on national holidays).
