After a month-long renovation, the Wumart (Wenyi Road), a 25-year presence in Cuiyuan, has reopened as the first supermarket in Xihu District to adopt the highly acclaimed “DL operation model.”

With 80% of its product lineup refreshed, the upgraded store offers an almost overwhelming variety for first-time visitors. “I only meant to buy vinegar, but there were thirty or forty options, each with tips tailored to different cooking needs,” said Chen, a local resident. The bakery section is also impressive - with on-site bakers providing fresh, transparent preparations. Another customer noted, “I bought a fish, and the counter filleted it right there for me. It saves me a lot of time.”

To maximize freshness, the store has introduced a timed discount system for cut fruits - 20% off after six hours, and removal from shelves after eight. Thoughtful upgrades are evident throughout: faucets near the seafood section, free ice stations at checkout, charging ports in the dining area, and a community service corner offering over ten practical services. As Li Guohui, Executive Director of Wumart East China, put it: “Our staff now proactively assist customers. It’s this human touch that keeps them coming back.”

“We aim to set a benchmark with this store and inspire broader commercial upgrades across this place,” said a representative from Cuiyuan Subdistrict Administration. “By organizing visits and workshops for local businesses, we hope to spread higher service standards and quality-driven practices.”
