How can clean, honest family values help young people build a solid moral foundation in an era of diverse influences? Recently, Gongshu’s Wulin Subdistrict hosted a “treasure hunt for family virtues” - an event dedicated to the next generation, embedding the answer in the very fabric of its historic neighborhoods.
The hunt spans several spots - they learned “filial piety” on Fenghuang Street, “no spoiling” Philosophy at Haier Alley, and “serving our nation with loyalty” by the Hero Wall on Qilin Street. As they’re exploring the region, the seeds of integrity and family virtues were quietly planted in their hearts.
Integrity education for youth has always been a priority to Wulin Subdistrict with an initiative titled “Clean in Action.” Cultural sites, such as Ma Yinchu and Lu You Memorial Halls, are used to host activities and give lectures on family traditions. It’ll be a transition of moral education from communities to families, helping youngsters “fasten the first button” in life.
The “first button” is also for Party members and civil servants. In Wulin, measures are taken for education, warning, and prevention to translate the morality as an abstract concept into tangible, everyday practice.
