This September marks the first National Public Science Education Month. The main event for that of Tonglu’s edition was comprised of two Citywalk routes - one for understanding of Tonglu’s pens, safety education, and horse culture, and the other for digital plants, modern agriculture, and TCM.
“You’ll get a whole picture of our industries, culture, and tech strengths across the two routes, so they are all fun destinations where we get some know-how,” said an officer from the county’s Association for Science and Technology. The routes offer a chance to get knowledge in urban landscapes - nothing but a brisk walk to learn more about Tonglu and its economy.
The first route extends along spots such as the Pen Park that offers a specific pen culture, pen-making DIY, and high-tech penning experience, the Hopmann Elevator Museum to try simulated elevator rescues and a safety quiz, and the province’s first Horse Culture Museum where you may have an understanding of the 5000-year legacies on horse.
The second route is spotted with Qianzhiya’s smart manufacturing hub, where visitors would see digitalized assembly control, research, and raw material and warehouse management, Efuton’s digital plant to understand smart tea production, and Tongjun Heritage Museum that offers in-person herb-making experience.
The event also featured the launch of five “Museums on New Quality Productive Forces,” including that of Kangji Medical Instrument and the other four’s. They unveil Tonglu’s tech advances, transformations, and applications inspired by the new quality productive forces.
The two routes are now open to group visitors. If you wish to participate, please book the slot by yourself or call Tonglu County Association for Science and Technology (0571-89545601) for help. The Month will also feature more than 30 science outreach activities, covering AI, the spirit of scientists, and free health check. Such a hybrid initiative with online and offline efforts will benefit at least 100,000 persons.
