“2025 Silk Road Week” will kick off on July 11 to widespread the Silk Road’s legacies and its culture. It’ll also be a real action to facilitate high-quality development of the shared Silk Road heritage. Under the banner of “Bridging Past and Present,” the Week will have Brazil as the guest country of honor and Inner Mongolia as the guest province.

The flagship exhibition “Vast Green Horizons: The Silk Road on Grassland from the 10th to 12th Centuries,” will be unveiled in Hangzhou. A source from China National Silk Museum indicates that it will showcase over 200 artifacts - including more than 60 top-tier relics - from the ruins of Shangjing and Zhongjing of the Liao regime, the tomb of Yelü Yu, the tomb of the princess of the Chen State, and the like. Multimedia will be used to spotlight the cultural exchanges along the ancient grassland trade routes, illustrating the pluralistic unity of the Chinese civilization.

Brazil’s featured events will run from late October to early November. As a part of the National Cultural Heritage Administration’s inaugural “Civilization Bridges” program for overseas exhibitions, China National Silk Museum and Brazil’s Immigration Museum will co-host a session named “Silk across Continents: From the Land of Mulberry to the Home of Samba” in São Paulo. It’ll be a spectacular show of China’s silk culture. In a landmark move, a “Chinese Silk Gallery” will be established in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná - a sister state of Zhejiang Province - to debut an exhibition centering around China’s silk art. It is the first dedicated space for the Chinese silk heritage in South America.

The museum also announced a lineup of interactive activities, including a livestream (“An Illuminated Silk Road”), a video show of 100 artifacts from 100 museums, and a Silk Road poster roadshow, etc. in collaboration with culture, education and communication authorities in both countries. More social activities, like a photo exhibition of Brazil and educational programs such as Silk Road pattern-coloring games, workshops, and students outreach events, will be activated to fill the program with thrills and knowledge.
