Yuanxiao, or the Lantern Festival, marks lanterns blazing high till mid-night and a time for reunion with the serving of tangyuan (a ball-like snack made of glutinous rice, stuffed with sweet sesame paste).
The city’s urban administration and law-enforcement authority will, on Feb. 12, host a nighttime lantern festival light show.
The light show for this year sources inspiration from the idea “yuan” (circle, or a symbol of reunion), using a versatile imagery of “circles” to convey to the public its profound meaning. The event signifies a blessing of “everything fulfilled and every dream coming true” for the city residents and travelers as well.
The light show will be run at 18:30 and 19:30 on Feb. 12 in several areas, including the Qiantang riverside and local districts, like Gongshu, Xihu, Xiaoshan, and Yuhang.
