Extravaganza Comprised of 36 Dramas and Plays Are to Be Unveiled

An annual cultural extravaganza is hosted to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new year, and this year is no exception. On December 25, the 2025 New Year Performance Season of Zhejiang Provincial Art Organizations officially commenced with the unveiling of a lineup of performances.


The season will run from this month till February 22, 2025, featuring a total of 36 shows and 3 exhibitions. Participating organizations include Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yue Opera Troupe, Zhejiang Jingkun Art Center, Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra, Zhejiang Vocational Art College, Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, as well as several troupes under the Zhejiang Performing Arts Group, such as Zhejiang Song and Dance Theater, Zhejiang Drama Troupe, and Zhejiang Show & Acrobatics Troupe. These groups will take turns gracing the stage.


The repertoire for this year’s season is diverse in themes and forms. Highlights include the highly anticipated Yue opera “My Grand View Garden,” Kunqu “The Heroic Youth,” the opera “Li Qingzhao” (based on the life of the renowned scholar Li), the play “In Search of Her: Eileen Chang” adapted from the life of the famous writer, the spy-themed musical “Whispers of the Wind,” and the play “Suzhou River.” Classics, such as Yue opera “Five Daughters Paying Homage,” Kunqu “What Can I Do?”, Peking opera “The Pavilion by the River,” and the opera “Turandot,” will also be shown onto the stage. Additionally, there are children’s favorites like the magic play “Rescue of Coco Kingdom” and the acrobatic play “The Ugly Duckling.” These productions are just some examples of the cultural advances and achievements in Zhejiang.


The season will continue to be shown by live broadcasting. Some of the plays will also be placed online in collaboration with Zhejiang Culture and Tourism, Zheli Cultural Circle, and Zhejiang Satellite TV’s Z Vision, etc.
