“2024 Cultural Identity Summer Camp”, sponsored by the city’s Overseas Chinese Federation, was inaugurated at Zhejiang International Studies University in the afternoon on July 8. The camp has 30 Chinese teen expats from 17 countries (regions), including the United States, France, and Germany. They will have the chance to learn and understand traditional Chinese culture and see in their own eyes the prosperity of China and Hangzhou.

The camp will last for 8 days, filled with cultural lessons such as calligraphy, paper cutting, tai-chi, etc. and hands-on experience like tea frying and pottery making. Xiling Seal Engravers Society and Robot Expo Center are also on the checklist for a understanding of the roots of the splendid culture and the power of intelligent manufacturing here.

“The summer camp is an opportunity to save and guard the Chinese culture, and we also see it as a platform where view exchanges shall take place,” said Zhejiang International Studies University. ZISU is a school committed to language, skill, and vision education that arms the students with a sharpened mind, proficient in mutual learning and cultural exchanges. The school will continue to play a role in the study of the overseas Chinese’s aspirations, blazing new paths of serving them, and polishing the school itself as a pool of resources.

“We hope the young guys would learn Chinese culture by heart. We expect them to share the pleasant moments they’ll spend here back with families and friends. They could be little envoys for China and our city. It will be a new force for future exchanges,” said the Overseas Chinese Federation. They will be happy to provide such platforms and services for those boys and girls from overseas.
