The arrival of summer signifies the season for hydrangeas. The hydrangeas by the West Lake now are in a prime time.

Quyuan Fenghe (Wine-making Yard and Lotus Pool) is a top destination to find lotus. In fact, in addition to the beautiful scenery of the “endless green”, the hydrangeas in the park also constitute a spectacular sight. According to the West Lake Scenic Area administration, hydrangeas in the park can mostly be seen at the electric boat pier and the entrance of the Gate 2. Those hydrangeas are blooming in a riot of hues together with the lotus aside. South of the Tongli Bridge is a small island, coated half with jungles and another half a green space. There are also many hydrangeas at the border of the jungles and the green space. The quiet Tortoise Pond, in the company of the murmuring flow of water, is alive with hydrangeas majorly colored in blue, white, and cyan. The flowers, usually large and round-shaped, are in full bloom along the riverside path into the greens, making it delightful and unforgettable.

To create an eco-friendly environment, the Huagang Office launched a summer-time water cleaning campaign in areas such as Quyuan Fenghe, Maojiabu, and the Tortoise Pond. By salvaging fallen leaves and aquatic plants, such "water waste" was cleared and transported in categories to improve the cleanliness of the water bodies.
