Recently, the scene “carp jumping over the ‘dragon gate’” made Xiaonanhu Lake, a sub-lake of the West Lake, an Instagram-worthy site, attracting visitors and photographers to come all the way to catch the moment. It is in the rainy season now, with high temperature and low pressure, and the lake water contains only decreased oxygen, so stocks of fishes come to the surface, including silver carps with hot temper, good at jumping and that have the aptitude for swimming against the current, and gather at the water inlets and outlets of the West Lake to “take a breath.”
