Another harvesting season for Jingshan! A briefing on March 15 announced that the local specialty, Jingshan tea, was going to be harvested first on March 18. The briefing also disclosed the situation of the local tea industry and the total production.
“The climate shown favor to the tea groves. The low temperature since a few days ago won’t much affect our job. We estimate that the total production of Jingshan tea this year could remain similar to that in the previous years,” according to a source from the rural affairs authority of Yuhang District. This year’s favorable conditions, like temperature, light, and water, together with the wide temperature gap between day and night, are conducive to the accumulation of effective ingredients in tea groves. The quality of Jingshan tea would remain desirable thanks to the efforts to promote high-quality varieties, organic fertilizer, green disease control and the intensified training of processing technique and other skills.
So, any more policies and measures will Yuhang take this year to give a boost?
Last year, the varieties Jingshan No. 1 and No. 2 were registered at the local authority. The efforts will be sharpened to promote the special varieties, providing no less than 200,000 seedlings by the end of this year. Focus will also be given on technology, quality control and skill training to further glorify the name of Jingshan.
The cash cow’s commercial value continues to rise. In 2022, the total value reached 2.734 billion yuan, a climb of 4.07% year-on-year. “As to the value, we are going to have a record of 3 billion yuan by 2023 and seek a step forward on the ranking of tea products. To this end, we will continue to do the best in industry administration, branding, anti-counterfeiting and exhibition," said the principal of Jingshan Tea Industry Association.
