“Zhejiang Basketball Association” (ZheBA), recently a buzzword, sparked a mania for fitness across the province. People flock to basketball courts, gyms, and sports centers. Riding this wave of enthusiasm for public fitness, Hangzhou will soon hand out vouchers offering discounts specific to sports - workouts, shopping, or fitness classes. Who’s eligible? How to get them? Where can they be used? Let’s find out.

According to Hangzhou Municipal Sports Bureau, the vouchers will be available in multiple rounds from July to November, with each round lasting seven days. The first round runs from July 26 to August 1, and the vouchers will expire by 23:59:59 on August 1. They are for everyone in Hangzhou, including visitors from other cities.

Once claimed, a voucher can be used at sponsored sports venues, stores, training fields, outdoor recreation facilities, and sports-related events. 

The vouchers are valid at three categories of establishments, i.e. brand-specific sportswear and equipment retailers (Li-Ning, Xtep, Giant, Xidesheng, Yonex, Victor, etc.); sports megastores such as Decathlon; outdoor recreation venues, fitness centers, and select sports training areas.

You may get them on mini-app Hangzhou Sports Online, Alipay, and Meituan. Text “Hangzhou Sports Consumption Vouchers” in, and you’ll be on a page to claim the vouchers on a first-come, first-served basis. The max discount is 300 RMB yuan.

Here’s the point - please write off vouchers at physical stores for the real amount (excluding all discounts the store offers itself). Please mind its date for expiry. For fitness and training services, the vouchers cater only to single-visit passes and monthly memberships.

Additionally, you may just pick one voucher for each round at the same platform. It will be automatically written off when you check it out for payment, as long as conditions are satisfied.

Unclaimed or unused vouchers will go to the next round. For refunds or revoked orders, the money you’ve paid will be returned with the voucher back - its expiry date unchanged. However, if refund occurs after the voucher’s validity period or involves a partial refund, the voucher will neither be returned nor be available for reuse.
