Hangzhou’s landscaping teams returned home with an impressive medal haul after dominating the 2025 Yangtze River Delta Gardening Skills Competition. The city’s entries stood out among 38 professional teams from three provinces and Shanghai in this weekend event, which showcased both technical excellence and regional cooperation in urban greening projects.
The standout piece, “Pearl of Waters,” is a brainchild of Hangzhou’s Gardens & Cultural Relics Administration and Gongshu District Housing & Urban Construction Bureau. It claimed the top prize and the Outstanding Design award. Nestled along Shanghai’s North Bund, the award-winning garden stands for a dialogue between cities - mirroring the iconic Oriental Pearl Tower across the river while telling the story of Hangzhou’s waterscape.
Another entry “Circle of Life”, created by the West Lake Scenic Area Administration and its Water Management Authority, earned the second prize and the Outstanding Organization award for its concept celebrating natural cycles.
