Unveiled at the Pingyao Ancient Street, Pingyao Town, Yuhang District in northwestern Hangzhou, the Third Daguanshan Peach Festival featured a variety of entertaining activities, including a peach bazaar, a Song Dynasty culture show and a gourmet night market, to name a few. The campaign is designed to further preach the Daguanshan peach, stimulate the rural night economy, spread folk customs, boost farmers’ income, and promote common prosperity.
It was also at this event that Pingyao Town signed a twinning MOU with Tianmushan Town, Lin'an District, to jointly tap potential in the peach business. Daguanshan Peach is one of Pingyao's five bestselling agri-foods. Undoubtedly, it is a pillar of the local economy and rural revitalization, with a 267-hectare cultivation area and an annual output value of more than RMB 33 million. Since Zhejiang encourages collaboration between the coastal areas and hilly areas within the province, Pingyao is brainstorming on win-win solutions with its partners.
Tianmushan Town in western Hangzhou is home to juicy mountain peaches. Under the memorandum, Pingyao experts will coach the Tianmushan residents on seeding, sprouting, etc. Sharing technological resources and sales channels will help increase the yield, and put more money in locals' pockets.
According to a Pingyao official, the duo will consolidate efforts in farming, marketing, branding and rural tourism. There is a proposal to expand peach acreage in Tianmushan, while Pingyao will continue to play the peach card and pursue an organic combination of agriculture, culture and tourism.
More efforts will be made to grow Pingyao’s peach business together with its cultural and tour advance, laying a good foundation on rural common prosperity and revitalization that has picked up the pace.
