11 Offline Counters Open for Full Refund of Train Tickets in Hangzhou

Given the resurgence of sporadic Covid-19 cases and cluster cases in certain regions of China and the need to cooperate with local efforts against Covid-19, China Railway has made some adjustments on ticket refunding policies to reduce passenger flow and the risk of infection.

According to China Railway, from January 7th, 2021, refunding train tickets bought before January 7th online (on www.12306.cn, the official website of China Railway or its mobile application) or offline will be free of service charge. Travel insurance, if bought, will be refunded in full together with the ticket.

The railway authority said there are two things that need to be noted in particular. The tickets can be refunded both online and offline; and the service only applies to tickets bought before January 7th.

According to the report from Hangzhou Railway Station, besides ticket vending machines at all railway stations, seven ticket counters in Hangzhou East Railway Station, two in Hangzhou Railway Station and two in Hangzhou South Railway Station have been put in place for refunding service.

According to the staff working at Hangzhou Railway Station, since nowadays most people prefer e-tickets which allow passengers to board the train simply by scanning their ID card or QR code, only a few went to the station for refund. Most chose to get the business done online.
