Cainiao International starts operating chartered flights between Hangzhou and Kuala Lumpur on Mar 31. Packages from Chinese merchants and relief supplies donated by China will reach Southeast Asia via this four-hour flight.

This is the first cargo flight to Kuala Lumpur from Zhejiang, which will boost the business exchange between the two places via the Electronic World Trade Platform (eWTP), said Tao Lixin, general manager of Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport Air Logistics Co.

The first flight was loaded with packages sent from tens of thousands of Tmall merchants to Southeast Asia, mostly clothes and face masks. Medical supplies donated by Jack Ma Foundation and Alibaba Foundation are also on the plane. Cainiao ehub at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport will distribute the supplies to buyers across Malaysia in as fast as a day with the eWTP clearance capacity. The return flight also provides exporters in Malaysia with one more logistics option. Cainiao is working with airlines to transform planes for passengers into those for cargo purposes and increase international transportation capacity.
