Wensli and Palace Museum Culture have jointly released a set of new year gifts, including silk scarves printed with gourd patterns, notebooks with Ruyi locks and exquisite silk red packets.

“Cultural relics are only impressive and remarkable when they are available to consumers in a certain form,” said Shan Jixiang, former curator of the Palace Museum and director of the Palace Museum Academy. Silk is the epitome of traditional Chinese wisdom, and the launch of products that feature both traditional culture and silk is highly anticipated, Shan added.

Sharing the concepts of making cultural relics alive and styling traditional cultures up, Wensli and Palace Museum Culture debuted this unique set of new year gifts. With the main color being Chinese red, the gifts embody rich Chinese New Year cultural elements. “Designs such as the auspicious gourd patterns and the Palace Museum door carving patterns all symbolize blessings,” said the chief designer.

“Innovation, as well as inheritance, can sustain the vitality of essential traditional Chinese cultures,” said Tu Hongyan, chairwoman of Wensli. Over the past 40 to 50 years, Wensli has been dedicated to the transition from "product manufacturing" to "cultural creation.” It has achieved the breakthrough from being a player in the traditional industry to the cultural creative industry. The company is integrating modern artificial intelligence and big data technologies to its silk-making processes.
