Liulang Wenying, or Orioles Singing in the Willows, has been one of the ten most famous scenic spots of West Lake since the South Song Dynasty. The park, which only has a desolate park with an archway, a stone tablet with the name, a stone pavilion and an old hackberry tree when the PRC was founded, has become an open public park with dense greenery, broad lawn, historical sites, and modernity. To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, the Hangzhou West Lake Scenic Area administration has collected historical information about the park and put them in an exhibition lasting through the end of next month.

The exhibition also provides an opportunity for the city’s primary and middle school students to participate in social activities. On the opening of the exhibition, 300 students from Jianqiao Huayuan Primary School staged performance, and workers of the Hubin gardening administration showed mowing techniques.

What’s worthing noting is that the large lawn in the park will be open to all visitors during the gold week holiday ended on Oct 7. It will continue to open to students on their autumn excursions after the holiday. So, please do come to breathe some fresh air and learn some history about the park.
