Hangzhou Cross-Border E-commerce Comprehensive Pilot Zone has been taking some major steps recently. On June 29, Paytm, the world’s third largest digital wallet and India’s largest mobile payment and e-commerce platform, will open the headquarters of its Paytm Mall in Hangzhou. Within less than one month, Google, Amazon, Wish and Paytm have entered the city.

In Hangzhou, cross-border e-commerce operators represented by Alibaba, NetEase’s Kaola have provided useful experience to global counterparts. The government-led system innovation is exemplary for the development of the global cross-border e-commerce industry, which has attracted the major shopping site operators. On June 28, a delegation led by Amazon Global Vice President Michael Miller visited the zone. Miller described the innovation in custom clearance and supervision as “very exciting” after he took a tour of the product quality risk monitoring center. The zone and Amazon will work in intellectual property and platform governing to further promote its cross-border e-commerce development.

Google and the zone signed a MoU in June to help local companies to market their brand and improve their profits through Google AdWords Hangzhou Experience Center. In addition, Wish, one of the four global largest cross-border e-commerce platforms, have also launched “Star Factory” and “Star Youth” programs to meet demands for e-commerce experts, and invest in potential e-commerce businesses.

The zone has developed targeted services for e-commerce businesses to build the city into an international internet trade center. In the first five months of this year, the zone introduced 234 cross-border e-commerce businesses, with the total registered asset reaching CNY 1.59 billion. Businesses with leading marketing positions in the sector amounted to 35, and the total registered capital stood at CNY 1.2 billion.
