Gongshu District signs agreements with Sina, SF Express, Didi

Gongshu District signed ten major agreements worth CNY 18 billion with famous companies like Sina, Qihoo, Istuary Innovation, SF Express, Didi and Chinese All Digital Publishing Group on June 6.


The 2,700 mu land at the crossing of Shixiang Road and Gongkang Road, which is across from the north gate of Zhejiang University City College, will be the “Canal Smart Network Valley,” focusing on development of information economy and e-commerce. With government subsidies of more than CNY 10 billion from Gongshu District, the valley’s scale is similar to Hangzhou Northern Software Park.


Sina and Qihoo have agreed to open their industrial parks in this area, with plans of tapping vlogging industry. Vlogging economy, sharing economy and social network economy are the three major driving forces in the internet ear. With monthly active users of 340 million, Weibo is mainly engaged in short video, live broadcasting and vlogging. Its industrial park will be located in the northwest of the valley. Weibo’s core business team and related businesses will move here to develop vlogging business.


Qihoo’s internet video content ecosystem, which is centered in its Huajiao Live business, also includes vlogger school, video processing and internet media publish.


The market of volgging and video can be over CNY 10 billion once businesses upstream and downstream form clusters. Sina and Qihoo are very confident about the city’s advantages in transportation, talents, and natural environment. The local government achieved agreement with Sina 50 days after starting talking to the company, and it took 42 days for Qihoo. “Their workers are so excited to move to Hangzhou,” said Ying Jingying, deputy director of the Canal Smart Valley Commission.


SF Express has already set up its innovation center in the valley. The new agreement with Hangzhou International Fresh Food E-commerce Supply China project will introduce SF’s e-commerce platform, computing center and cold chain logistics services.


As planned, the services will be available to 400 fresh food suppliers and 2,000 downstream businesses, which is expected to increase the fresh food options for local people. Another forecast is that the project will increase about 1,200-1,500 jobs.


Didi owns about 93% share of China’s internet-based communication market. Didi’s auto industry chain headquarters center and internet-enabled auto industry ecosystem park will include its core businesses such as car R&D, sales, post-car market, designated driving, internet-enabled car innovation base. Didi aims the biggest in Asia in its sector, with plans of offering its data to partners, data support and building China’s largest car own home.


Chinese All Digital Publishing Group, which is entitled to exclusively publish the e-book and audio book of “In Name of People,” signed a strategic agreement with Gongshu District to build an online reading platform combined with the Canal cultures from local areas.
