Fliggy, China Eastern partner on all-round marketing

On Dec 21, Alibaba Group and China Eastern Airlines agreed to work together to integrate mobile internet with “airline plus,” and serve global travellers with big data services.

Fliggy will coordinate the partnership, according to the two sides’ agreement. In terms of membership services, Fliggy will cooperate with Tmall to integrate 88 Membership, Fliggy Membership and Eastern Miles Membership systems to ensure the sharing of membership interest.

The two sides will also launch “Brand Account” of China Eastern on Fliggy app, help China Eastern users to book tickets, inquire rights of passengers, and learn about new lines/products/discounts.

Alibaba CEO Daniel Zhang said that consumers now have growing demand for digital products and lifestyle services, especially for traveling, instead of physical products. The future business models will feature big data as resources and computing as engines. Alibaba has over 500 million active users on mobile devices. Its big data in personal/family consumption, financial payment, vacation, and B2B scenarios, along with its strength in data analysis and technologies, will help China Eastern improve its efficiency and experiences of Chinese travellers.
