AliCloud announced to launch its data centre in Malaysia on Oct 30. It is the first international cloud service provider to offer AI cloud service in this country, and also the second region in Southeast Asia that AliCloud expands into. AliCloud now has the widest infrastructure coverage in Southeast Asia after the launch, according to the company.

The data centre will provide infrastructure services including computing, storage, and network, as well as internet middleware and AI products/service that can help digitalize local enterprises. Also, AliCloud is working local partners including MDEC and FusioneX to assist companies in training talents, and accelerate the application of AI in tourism, finance, logistics and transportation sectors.

The new centre will boost local economy and empower SMEs with cloud infrastructure and technologies in the eWTP framework, said Hu Xiaoming, president of AliCloud. The centre can also provide infrastructure for Chinese companies expanding in overseas markets.
