Main Responsibilities:

Hangzhou Municipal Sports Bureau (Hangzhou Municipal Sports Federation) is the municipal government’s unit in charge of sports work. 

1. Implementing laws, regulations, rules, guidelines, and policies of the nation and the province for sports. Drafting, organizing implementation of regional regulations and rules. 

2. Researching, drafting the city’s sports development strategies. Compiling mid-to-long-term development plans and annual plans for sports affairs. Instructing on, and pushing ahead sports system reform.

3. Responsible for the city’s fitness work. Instructing on large-scale mass sports activities. Supervising, implementing national sports exercise standards. Organizing  survey of national physique. Enhancing sports-related public services. Promoting improvement of diversified sports service system.

4. Instructing on the city’s sports amateur trainings. Organizing participation in major sports events of provincial and above levels. Planning development of competitive sports. Instructing, pushing ahead sports work for the youth. Researching, balancing sports event setup and overall arrangement. Instructing on, managing the city’s sports competition work. Organizing anti-doping work. 

5. Developing sports industry. Researching, drafting policies for sports industry and operations. Managing sports market. Certifying vocational techniques in sport sector. Managing, supervising business operations in sports sector. Responsible for sports lottery management work. 

6. Working with government units to plan, coordinate the city's improvement of sports facilities. Responsible for supervision, management of city-level sports facilities.

7. Organizing, instructing on sports publicity, research, and education-related work. Organizing training for sports cadres and professionals. 

8. Managing sports-related foreign affairs. Organizing sports cooperation and communication with foreign countries as well as Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. 

9. Working with government units to manage sports societies. Administering gymnastic qigong by law. 

10. Completing other tasks delegated by the municipal government.
